Description:
The Cloud Systems Administrator (The Cloud Custodian) is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and protecting cloud infrastructure that supports cloud-based applications and services.
This role involves day-to-day management of cloud environments to ensure stability, performance, and security.
The administrator will monitor, troubleshoot, and implement changes to enhance cloud operations in collaboration with IT teams and engineers.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the operation and performance of cloud systems (AWS, GCP, Azure), ensuring availability, scalability, and reliability.
The role requires deploying security protocols, managing IAM policies, and enforcing access controls to protect data and infrastructure.
Regular reviews and optimizations of cloud resources are necessary to reduce costs while maintaining performance and reliability.
The administrator will schedule and execute updates, patches, and system improvements to keep cloud systems up to date.
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to cloud services, applications, and network performance is a critical part of the job.
The role includes creating and maintaining thorough documentation of cloud environments, procedures, and best practices.
Automation tools and scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) will be used to streamline management tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements:
Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is required, with familiarity in key services including compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
A deep understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and network security, is essential for maintaining compliance with standards such as ISO, GDPR, or HIPAA.
The candidate must have the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues swiftly and optimize system performance using monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus.
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) is necessary to automate administrative tasks and streamline operations.
Experience in creating comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, procedures, and best practices is required.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is necessary, with equivalent experience in cloud systems administration considered.
Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.
The candidate should have 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3+ years specializing in cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with cloud automation tools and maintaining large-scale cloud infrastructures is required.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus.
