• Deep Science Ventures (DSV) is looking for a Co-founder in Residence with expertise in Systems Architecture for Water Treatment Technologies to co-found a new company focused on hyper-efficient distillation to prevent global water scarcity.
• The selected individual will work closely with the current Founder in Residence, Brad S. Roan, to spin-out the new venture with pre-seed investment from DSV.
• The global water scarcity crisis is escalating, with demand for clean water expected to exceed supply by 40% within the next decade, posing significant economic risks.
• The water industry has been slow-moving and lacks innovation, creating an opportunity for disruptive technologies to address the impending crisis.
• The approach involves developing affordable water treatment systems by focusing on mass producibility, learning curves, scalability, and robustness.
• The ideal candidate should have a track record in desalination, water purification, or wastewater treatment, possess business skills for early-stage company operations, and hold an advanced degree in a technical field.
• Exposure to the water market, solar industry, or construction sector is highly desirable, along with skills in talent acquisition, international regulations, and intellectual property development.
• Desired traits include an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong desire to make a positive impact on global water scarcity, and willingness to work in potentially remote locations.

Requirements:

• Documented success in desalination, water purification, or wastewater treatment projects.
• Business skills for early-stage company operations, including financial modeling and risk assessment.
• Customer-oriented product development, marketing, and pricing strategies.
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a technical field like mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or engineering physics.
• Exposure to the water market, solar industry, or construction sector is highly desirable.
• Skills in talent acquisition, international regulations, and intellectual property development.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, desire to make a positive impact, and willingness to work in remote locations.
