Description:
BlaBlaCar is seeking a Confirmed Frontend Engineer to join their Booking team, focusing on optimizing the booking and checkout experience for multimodal travel options.
The role involves developing the BlaBlaCar website, addressing technical challenges, and contributing to product feature development from conception to deployment and monitoring.
The web application stack is a monorepo based on React and Typescript, utilizing REST APIs to interact with a backend of microservices primarily built in Java.
The engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with a team of 5 frontend engineers and 4 backend engineers, as well as being part of a larger SPA chapter of 13 frontend web engineers.
Responsibilities include enhancing and maintaining the BlaBlaCar web app, developing and maintaining a design system, ensuring application quality, participating in design and code reviews, collaborating with non-technical stakeholders, and sharing knowledge with the team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a passion for web development and production experience with Typescript, HTML, and CSS.
Excellent communication skills, humility, and a willingness to share and learn from others are essential.
The ability to embrace change, balance fast iterations with quality delivery, and a results-driven mindset are required.
Fluency in English is mandatory.
Nice to have qualifications include experience with a JavaScript framework (React, Angular, or Vue), TypeScript or backend technologies (Java, PHP Symfony), maintaining a Design System library, contributing to IaC and CI/CD topics, and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions like Datadog.
