Description:

  • The position is for a Contract Data Engineer specializing in Python and JavaScript, working remotely within the EU.
  • The role involves building core infrastructure software, including pipelines, APIs, data modeling, and event tracking, as part of the client's data platform team.
  • Responsibilities include instrumenting systems for performance and enhancements, ensuring data offerings are accessible to various internal and external stakeholders using secure authentication patterns.
  • The Data Engineer will choose and implement appropriate technologies for scaling data access patterns, batch processing, and handling data from third-party suppliers.
  • The role also includes supporting documentation and supplying data to researchers while considering the unique domain knowledge of the client's business.
  • As a senior collaborator, the Data Engineer will coach and mentor other engineers to support their technical growth.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in writing highly maintainable and performant Python/PySpark code is required.
  • Experience with Node.js and FinTech integrations, such as QuickBooks and Plaid, is necessary.
  • A good understanding of cloud environments is essential.
  • Familiarity with containerization platforms like Docker and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes is required.
  • Experience working with data lakes and familiarity with Spark or Databricks is necessary.
  • Understanding of common data transformation and storage formats, such as Apache Parquet, is required.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub is essential.
  • Experience with VCL and BCL is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong problem-solving skills that balance innovation with pragmatic technology choices are required.
  • The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic production environment and managing client expectations effectively.
  • A distinct customer focus and quality mindset are essential.
  • Experience working closely with engineering leadership and architects to deliver high-quality solutions is required.
  • The candidate should maintain a high degree of ownership and transparency in deliverables.
  • Exceptional communication skills are necessary, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply.
