Remote Contract: Senior FastAPI Backend Engineer

Description:

• Photoroom is seeking a Senior FastAPI Backend Engineer contractor/freelancer with expertise in async Python to assist in adding new AI features to their platform.
• The project duration is 6 months, with the possibility of renewal, and the work can be done remotely from anywhere in Europe.
• The role involves building and enhancing AI features, improving private API speed, and integrating multiple services to deliver high-quality images to users.
• The day rate for this position ranges from €500 to €800, with potential for higher compensation for outstanding profiles and adjustments based on the cost of living.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with the AI Tools squad to implement and improve AI features, designing and architecting new features, and monitoring and scaling the FastAPI service using Datadog for optimizations.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have experience designing and updating internal REST APIs and collaborating with other teams to gather requirements.
• A strong background in monitoring and improving the performance of existing services, ideally using Datadog, is required.
• Experience with FastAPI or a similar async Python HTTP framework is essential.
• Candidates should have experience with integration testing in large Python projects and reliably wiring multiple external services or APIs together.
• Previous work experience in a fast-paced startup environment is preferred.
• Bonus qualifications include experience with image libraries in Python such as Pillow or OpenCV, and familiarity with Server Side Events.
