The role of Backend Engineer involves architecting and maintaining core services and infrastructure for the platform.
Responsibilities include shaping backend architecture, developing core services, creating robust APIs, managing builds and deployments, ensuring system reliability and performance, implementing security measures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing scalable backend services using modern programming languages such as Kotlin, Python, Go, or Java.
Familiarity with cloud computing, particularly AWS services like ECS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudFront, is required.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization and indexing strategies, is necessary.
Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems, including service communication and resilience tools, is important.
Candidates should have experience in developing public APIs optimized for various use cases, including RESTful and GraphQL.
Proficiency in managing Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or AWS CDK is required.
Experience with authentication and security protocols such as OAuth and JWT is necessary.
Familiarity with observability tools and logging strategies is important.
Candidates should have skills in performance optimization and resilience techniques.
Collaboration with data teams to provide scalable backend solutions is expected.

The position offers a daily rate of £250-£325 GBP, depending on experience.
The initial contract term is for 3 months, followed by a rolling monthly contract.
