Description:

The Cryptographic Software Engineer will assist in the development, testing, and documentation of cryptographic modules and systems in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS).
The role requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a passion for cybersecurity and technical documentation.
Key responsibilities include supporting the FIPS 140-3 certification process for cryptographic modules, assisting in building, testing, and maintaining RPM packages for various cryptographic libraries, and collaborating with senior engineers and external labs to write and review technical documentation.
The engineer will work with AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream, or RHEL in a development and testing environment and contribute to the security engineering team by applying knowledge of cryptographic concepts.
Requirements:
Proficiency in C/C++ is required for this position.
Experience or knowledge in building RPM packages is necessary.
A basic knowledge of mathematics and cybersecurity concepts is essential.
Experience with AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream, or RHEL is required.
Strong proficiency in spoken and written English is a must.
High attention to detail and the ability to work with technical documentation are crucial.
A passion for writing and reviewing technical materials is needed.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with debugging tools (e.g., GDB, VS Code) and familiarity with OpenSSL, NSS, Libgcrypt, GnuTLS.
Cybersecurity certification (e.g., ISC2, CompTIA) and understanding of cryptographic concepts, including encryption, key exchange, hashing, PKI, entropy, and random number generators (RNGs) are advantageous.
Knowledge of encrypted protocols (e.g., SSH, IPsec, TLS) is also a plus.
