Description:

  • alcemy is focused on reducing the CO2 footprint of the cement and concrete industry, which is responsible for around 8% of global CO2 emissions.
  • The company leverages machine learning to provide smart production control software to improve efficiency and enable the production of low-carbon cement and concrete.
  • The software is used 24/7 in cement and concrete plants to optimize production and reduce carbon emissions.
  • The role involves ensuring customers can successfully use the product from a technical perspective, contributing to customer satisfaction and company growth.
  • Responsibilities include improving internal processes, developing data tools, preparing customer data for machine learning models, and collaborating with the Customer Success and Product teams.
  • Within the first month, the new hire will complete onboarding, clone the production tech stack, learn about cement production, and deploy code to production.
  • Within three months, they will implement data ingestion, configure the machine learning pipeline, and identify improvements in the customer data journey.
  • Within six months, they will estimate the scope of new features, present data-driven insights, and contribute to the tech stack.

Requirements:

  • A strong commitment to tackling climate change and making a meaningful impact.
  • Experience as a data scientist with an inquisitive thinking style to investigate complex data.
  • Proficiency in Python (including its data science stack) and SQL (PostgreSQL).
  • A good understanding of machine learning, ideally with time series data.
  • Experience with testing code, using the command line, git, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to create insightful data visualizations that communicate clear messages.
  • Experience managing projects and dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with patience for non-technical individuals.
  • A team player who enjoys helping team members excel, is detail-oriented, organized, and diligent.
  • Fluency in English in a professional setting and based in Germany.
  • Preferred qualifications include fluency in German or another European language, experience with Grafana, and familiarity with AWS, terraform, and Kubernetes.
