Description:
The Cyber Security Engineer (ISSO) will be responsible for providing risk management for FedRAMP cloud hosted applications, ensuring compliance with Federal and Departmental security regulations.
They will prepare and update reports to meet internal and external security reporting requirements, including FISMA and CPIC.
The engineer will coordinate security elements with IT Program Managers, evaluate system environments for IT Security Architecture, hardware, software, and associated threats and vulnerabilities.
Managing security controls to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information will be a key responsibility.
Integrating security into the system development process, defining security specifications, and reviewing procurement requests to ensure security measures are included.
Conducting self-assessments, auditing and monitoring system logs for security threats, and ensuring continuous monitoring practices for maintaining security controls.
Coordinating incident response with system owners and ISSM, including computer investigations, forensics, and processing of POA&M reviews.
Supporting security awareness and training programs, as well as maintaining comprehensive documentation of procedures, SOPs, and technical reports.
Updating Risk Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) annually or as needed.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience is required for this position.
The candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or an engineering discipline is preferred.
