Description:

  • As a data engineer at Ashby, you will be responsible for building the foundations of all data-related activities within the company.
  • Your tasks will include managing the Snowflake data warehouse, data ingestion, and data modeling infrastructure.
  • You will collaborate closely with product and go-to-market teams to operationalize data, analysis, and reporting across the organization.
  • Ashby emphasizes using data to aid principled thinking for decision-making rather than requiring data for every decision.
  • The company promotes transparency and open access to data and reporting throughout the organization.
  • The role involves working directly with business partners to identify and plan data-related efforts.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in data modeling and data warehousing, with a preference for experience with dbt, Snowflake, and AWS or similar cloud providers.
  • Proficiency in data orchestration and workflow management tools, such as Prefect.
  • Familiarity with standard data integration services like Fivetran.
  • Strong skills in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with custom ETL and β€œreverse ETL” development using REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Experience in modeling and working with product analytics events.
  • Strong analytical thinking and familiarity with data visualization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in collaborating with various teammates, including product and go-to-market teams.
