Description:

The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure for a public health organization, specifically aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI).
This role involves enabling data integration and preparation pipelines for downstream analytics on behalf of the Office of Epidemiology and Population Health.
The Data Engineer will collaborate with the Cleveland Department of Public Health and the Office of Urban Analytics & Innovation to align on data infrastructure requirements and best practices.
Responsibilities include utilizing software engineering methods to integrate and prepare multiple data sources, collaborating with Data Analysts and Epidemiologists, performing data linkages, documenting processes, testing data accuracy, tracking projects, managing data systems, optimizing pipelines, monitoring performance, implementing security measures, and providing technical guidance.
The position is fully remote for U.S. based candidates and is grant funded with a limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems, or equivalent experience is required.
Demonstrated ability in complex data management and preparation, including data storage and standardization for data warehousing efforts is necessary.
Experience with data integration frameworks and cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure Databricks, is preferred.
Proficiency in designing, writing, and delivering code in a team environment using software engineering principles such as Java, Python, or R is essential.
The ability to thrive in a project-based, team environment is required.
Preferred skills include experience with spatial data, such as geopandas or ArcGIS.

The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
