Description:

  • Pagos is seeking a Data Engineer to join their remote team in Sweden.
  • The role involves building and maintaining the platform that powers Pagos' products.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with backend engineers, data analysts, and other engineers to build and own new features, modules, and extensions of systems.
  • The ideal candidate should be an action-oriented and collaborative problem solver who thrives in ambiguity and can take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Key tasks include crafting high-quality code for scale, availability, and performance, designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, and building integrations with data providers.
  • The Data Engineer will drive engineering projects from start to finish with a high level of ownership and autonomy.
  • Ensuring the quality of products and data through manual and automated testing, as well as code reviews, is also a critical part of the role.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on Data Engineering.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • Advanced experience with complex SQL queries and database/lakehouse technologies such as Redshift, Apache Iceberg, and Postgres is necessary.
  • Deep experience with big data technologies and frameworks such as Apache Spark and DBT, as well as data quality tools like DBT (test), is essential.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and common data-related services (e.g., S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, Athena) is required.
  • A bias for action and eagerness to learn and grow within the industry is expected.
  • Nice to have: experience with real-time streaming frameworks like Apache Kafka, Great Expectations and/or Soda, managing big data and ELT pipelines, and working with orchestration tools like Temporal or Apache Airflow.
  • Experience in high-growth, venture-backed startups is also a plus.
