Description:
The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure for a public health organization, specifically aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI).
This role involves collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams to evaluate, design, build, and manage data infrastructure.
Responsibilities include creating and managing systems and pipelines for efficient data flow, collecting and transforming data, optimizing data pipelines, and monitoring for performance issues.
The Data Engineer will implement security measures to protect sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA and collaborate with various partners to understand their data needs.
The position requires designing and managing data storage systems, applying best practices in data engineering, and providing technical guidance to other staff.
The Data Engineer will document standards and practices, analyze IT roadmap plans, and lead database migration efforts.
This position is remote and requires the candidate to be based in the United States.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary, with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or SQL.
Strong understanding of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases, is essential.
Experience with engineering best practices, data warehousing concepts, and cloud computing platforms is required.
Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration techniques is necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications include 6 years of relevant experience, public health or healthcare experience, and familiarity with cloud-based platforms and electronic health records.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with a position end date of June 30, 2025.
The role offers a fully remote work arrangement for U.S.-based candidates.
