Description:
MediaLab is a media and technology company focused on acquiring and growing properties and global brands.

The Data Engineer will be a key member of the team that builds and maintains data platform solutions at MediaLab.
The Data team collaborates with all MediaLab brands and business teams across the organization.
Responsibilities include maintaining and optimizing go-based pub/sub consumers, improving repository efficiency, troubleshooting ETL jobs, supporting data ingestion requests, integrating application data, and contributing to deployment workflows.
The team handles a streaming pipeline with thousands of events per second and billions per day, a BigQuery instance with extensive schemas and tables, and hundreds of DAGs in Airflow and Dataform.
The team works with Python, SQL, and Golang, focusing on writing clean, efficient, and reusable code.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 1-2 years of professional experience as a data engineer or software engineer with significant data exposure.
Proficiency in Python is required, and Golang experience is a significant plus.
Experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP and/or AWS) is necessary.
Candidates must have experience using containers, with Kubernetes experience preferred.
Solid SQL skills are required, with an understanding of how to make complex queries run efficiently.
Candidates must be able to write clear documentation.
Experience with a CI/CD platform is required.
Familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure as code is necessary.
Experience with at least one major data warehouse (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.) is a plus.
Experience working with at least one pub/sub tool (Kafka, Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, etc.) is a plus.
Experience in the ad tech or digital publishing industries is a nice-to-have.
