Description:
The Data Engineer role is 100% remote, working east coast hours.
This position supports the Translational Data Services team in implementing, maintaining, and monitoring data standards across Precision for Medicine’s laboratory services unit.
The Data Engineer will contribute to implementing and monitoring standards and data transfer/QC processes to ensure high-quality data delivery to clients.
Essential functions include creating production-level source code for biomarker data management and delivery.
The role involves working closely with the lab team to develop, execute, and maintain custom pipelines for data processing and quality control for various biomarker data types.
Responsibilities also include building data pipelines that clean, transform, aggregate, or visualize data from disparate sources.
The Data Engineer will perform source code validation and application testing.
Collaboration with members of other Precision divisions and external clients and vendors is required.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in data management, Bioinformatics, biotechnology, computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related discipline is required.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is necessary.
Proven experience with programming languages such as R or Python and data visualization/exploration tools is required.
Candidates must have experience analyzing biological data, querying databases, writing API calls, and using the AWS ecosystem.
The ability to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment while handling multiple projects is essential.
Candidates should be able to leverage existing technologies to address unique challenges and identify problems while working with internal stakeholders to find resolutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work as a team player in a collaborative environment.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in data management, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Biology, or a related field.
Experience with source code management systems such as git and the ability to work efficiently under a Unix/Linux environment is preferred.
Experience interfacing with LIMS systems, cloud computing infrastructure (e.g., AWS), and relational databases such as MySQL is also preferred.
Benefits:
The position offers a reasonable estimate of the compensation range between $70,000 - $100,000 USD.
The role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
