Description:
The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data infrastructure for a public health organization as part of the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI).
This role involves creating and managing systems and pipelines for efficient data flow, including ingestion, processing, and storage.
The Data Engineer will collect, transform, and clean data from various sources to ensure accuracy and consistency, loading it into storage systems or data warehouses.
Responsibilities include optimizing data pipelines, monitoring for performance issues, implementing security measures, and collaborating with data scientists and analysts to meet data needs.
The position requires designing and managing data storage systems, including relational and NoSQL databases, and maintaining ETL processes.
The Data Engineer will provide technical guidance, communicate effectively with partners, and stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
This position is remote and requires candidates to be based in the United States.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or SQL is necessary, with the ability to implement data automations within existing frameworks.
Experience with big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Flink is required.
A strong understanding of database systems, including relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), is essential.
Candidates should have experience with engineering best practices, data warehousing concepts, and cloud computing platforms.
Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration techniques is required.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential, as well as experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
The position offers a fully remote work arrangement for U.S.-based candidates.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with an end date of June 30, 2025.
