Description:
Nielsen is seeking a Data Engineer with over 3 years of experience to join the Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) team within Gracenote’s Global Quality Office.
The BIA team focuses on building standardized and scalable measurement and reporting solutions for clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities include building and maintaining big data pipelines on Cloud for BI solutions, leveraging distributed computing frameworks for processing batch and streaming workloads, and authoring and orchestrating jobs with a focus on serverless computing.
The role also involves implementing and maintaining data-warehouse, data-lake, and lakehouse architectures for BI/analytics use-cases, as well as developing scalable and cost-effective data solutions using clean coding principles.
Requirements:
Candidates must have conceptual, hands-on, and strong implementation experience in Python, SQL, and Pyspark.
Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Event Bridge, Step-functions, EC2, EMR, SSM, IAM, VPC, Cloudfront, Cloudwatch, and API Gateway is required.
Experience with modern columnar and open table formats like Parquet, Delta-lake, and Apache Iceberg is necessary.
Familiarity with relational databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Amazon RDS is essential.
Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink, and Druid is required.
Experience with cloud data-warehouses like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, and Synapse Analytics is necessary.
Candidates should have working knowledge of data catalogs like AWS Data Catalog, Hive Metastore, and Apache Iceberg.
Familiarity with query engines such as Athena, Presto, Trino, and Dremio is preferred.
Familiarity with unified platforms like Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Synapse is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills, communication abilities, collaboration and teamwork skills, and learning agility for new technologies are essential.
Attention to detail, critical thinking, and a focus on quality are important soft skills for this role.
