Description:
The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure for a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Data Engineer will work within the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) and will collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements and ensure they are correctly understood by developers.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and architectures, implementing strategies for data collection and analysis, managing relational and non-relational databases, and applying data modeling techniques.
The Data Engineer will utilize analytics software to interpret and present data insights, work closely with cross-functional teams, and lead requirements gathering sessions.
This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S. based candidates.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is required; an MBA or other related advanced degree is preferred.
A minimum of 5+ years of relevant professional experience is required.
Experience in writing Use Cases to document requirements and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
Knowledge and experience with project management methodologies, change management, and risk management principles are necessary.
The candidate must have experience using data to make decisions and gathering insights to improve outcomes.
Strong understanding of technical concepts, legacy systems, and user experience design principles is required.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams, are essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual salary offers based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with a position end date of June 30, 2025.
The position offers a fully remote work arrangement for candidates based in the United States.
