Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• The Data Engineer will be responsible for implementing complex data ingestion and pipeline processes on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), adhering to industry best practices.
• The role involves designing, developing, configuring, testing, debugging, and documenting these processes to meet business requirements and technical architecture specifications.
• The candidate will also support and troubleshoot existing processes and data flows.
• Responsibilities include preparing detailed specifications from which data processes are developed and implemented, and developing and implementing technical solutions through code development and tool configuration.
• The Data Engineer will use SQL for querying databases to extract data, analyze it, and troubleshoot defects.
• The role requires the development and execution of testing plans, including unit, system, integration, and user acceptance testing, with documentation of all results.
• Participation in project planning is expected, and the candidate may assume responsibility for managing projects of limited scope.
• The Data Engineer will provide coding options and estimates for project planning and budget management, as well as estimate and track time required for tasks to assist with project budgeting and financial tracking.
• Conducting and participating in solution design, configuration, and code reviews is part of the job.
• The candidate will provide technical expertise for both project and operational support teams and must adhere to strict security standards for handling, processing, and storing sensitive data.
• Maintaining development standards and recommending new standards as needed is also a key responsibility.

Requirements:

• A 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• The candidate must have 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering with a focus on Google Cloud Platform.
• The candidate must have experience with Google Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Google Dataform, and data ingestion to BigQuery.
• Proficiency in Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, and GitHub is required.
• The candidate must be proficient in SQL.
• Good to have skills include experience with Cloud Data Fusion, DBMS connectivity and interaction (SQL Server, DB2, Oracle), RESTful APIs, and SOAP Web services.
• Experience integrating with other Google resources, databases, and services, as well as familiarity with Jira and Confluence, is also beneficial.
