Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• The Data Engineer will report to the Head of Engineering and will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and analytics.

• The Data Engineer will focus on automation and accessibility, optimizing workflows, identifying gaps, and improving data maturity.
• The position is remote, with preference given to candidates in Chicago, Boston, New York, Dallas, or Miami.

Requirements:

• A BS/MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required, with a background in Mathematics and Statistics being a plus.
• Experience with RDBMS such as Teradata, MS SQL Server, or Oracle in production environments is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in data engineering and working with databases/data warehouses is necessary.
• Familiarity with Big Data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, and Map/Reduce is required.
• An expert-level understanding of Python, particularly with libraries like Pandas, is essential.
• Proficiency in shell scripting, such as Bash, and Python data application development is needed.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills are required for effective teamwork.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for addressing complex challenges.
• Experience working with BI teams and tools like PowerBI, supporting analytics work, and interfacing with Data Scientists is necessary.
