Description:

  • The Data Engineer will be responsible for operationalizing data and analytics initiatives for the company.
  • They will expand and optimize the data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize data flow and collection.
  • The Data Engineer is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.
  • They will support software developers, data architects, and data analysts on data initiatives and ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
  • The role requires self-direction and the ability to support the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
  • Essential functions include developing, constructing, testing, and maintaining data architectures or data pipelines.
  • The Data Engineer will ensure data architecture supports business requirements and discover opportunities for data acquisition.
  • They will develop data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production, and employ various languages and tools to integrate systems.
  • The role involves recommending ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality, leveraging large volumes of data to meet business demands.
  • The Data Engineer will employ sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive and prescriptive modeling.
  • They will drive automation through effective metadata management and propose innovative data ingestion, preparation, integration, and operationalization techniques.
  • The Data Engineer will ensure responsible use of data through governance and compliance initiatives and promote data and analytics capabilities to business unit leaders.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • At least five years of work experience in data management disciplines, including data integration, modeling, optimization, and data quality, is necessary.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders is required.
  • Knowledge of the midstream services industry and data related to natural gas, NGLs, and crude oil is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with advanced analytics tools and programming languages such as R, Python, Java, C++, and Scala is essential.
  • The ability to design, build, and manage data pipelines for data structures is required.
  • Experience with database programming languages including SQL and PL/SQL, as well as knowledge of NoSQL/Hadoop-oriented databases, is necessary.
  • Experience working with large datasets and traditional data integration technologies is required.
  • Familiarity with SQL on Hadoop tools and technologies, as well as message queuing technologies, is essential.
  • Basic experience with data discovery, analytics, and BI software tools like Tableau, Qlik, and PowerBI is required.
  • Strong experience in working with data science teams and optimizing machine learning models is necessary.
  • Basic experience in data governance, data quality, and data security is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments and operating systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and the ability to apply DevOps and DataOps principles is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to independently resolve issues are necessary.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues and providing technical solutions to non-technical individuals is required.
  • Demonstrated team-building skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude are essential.
