The role of Data Engineer involves developing an innovative nutrition database at the intersection of data engineering, machine learning, and proprietary nutrition.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining systems for data acquisition, storage, processing, and retrieval.
The Data Engineer will collaborate with data scientists, application developers, and machine learning engineers to meet data requirements.
Key tasks include building scalable data infrastructures, ensuring data availability and reliability, and implementing best practices for data management and security.
The position requires participation in agile activities, gathering data requirements, and ensuring compliance with data governance and security best practices.
The Data Engineer will also build data models, feature engineering pipelines, and integrate machine learning models with data pipelines.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and data science is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience is necessary; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts is essential.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Scala is required.
Experience with big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop and Spark is necessary.
Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is required.
Proven experience building data lakes using Databricks, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift is essential.
Databricks Data Engineering Professional certification is a strong plus.
Proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL is required.
Experience developing data pipelines with technologies such as Airflow, Dagster, and Kafka is necessary.
A solid understanding of data security and privacy regulations is required.
Strong understanding of software development life cycle best practices is essential.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive tasks to success without relying solely on formal authority is required.
Proven experience supporting data operations and managing SLAs in a production environment is necessary.
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills are essential.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently is required.
A positive, can-do attitude with a high-intensity work ethic and commitment to success is necessary.
Fast learner with the ability and interest to absorb new information, particularly in the nutrition domain, is required.
Benefits:
The position offers a salary range of $150,000 - $175,000 a year.
