Description:
Peregrine Advisors Benefit Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and technically adept Data Engineer to support federal agency data initiatives.
The initial work will focus on data processing and transformation for visualizations for a high-profile financial regulator.
Responsibilities include optimizing, processing, curating, and cleaning data to support faster load times and closer to real-time analysis and visualization.
The role involves accessing public and non-public APIs utilizing Python, SQL, and Linux.
Expertise in developing and optimizing data pipelines, managing databases, and transforming data for analysis and visualization is required.
The position requires developing and maintaining data ETL in AWS and other environments set up specifically for the federal agency.
The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, IT professionals, and agency stakeholders.
The Data Engineer will apply best practices in data management, governance, and compliance with federal data standards.
Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, data science, computer science, statistics, economics, physics, or another quantitative field with two years of relevant work experience, or a master’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field is required.
Proven experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes is necessary.
Strong proficiency in Python for scripting and automation, with experience using Linux environments is required.
Expertise in SQL, with experience querying large datasets and working with Parquet data stores is essential.
Experience with cloud-based database systems such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is required.
Familiarity with data visualization tools and technologies, including Python libraries like Matplotlib and JavaScript libraries like D3.js and Highcharts, is necessary.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is required.
Effective communication of complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is necessary.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and willing and able to apply for and hold a Public Trust position.
The position is remote, but DC accessible applicants are preferred.
All work must be conducted from within the United States.
