Description:
Calm is seeking a Data Engineer to support its mission of enhancing mental health through data-driven solutions.
The role involves working with various data sources, including application event streams, product databases, and third-party data.
Responsibilities include collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their goals and challenges, building standardized data solutions, and incorporating best practices for observability and testing.
The Data Engineer will also develop processes to ensure data trustworthiness and documentation, work with data analysts to refine data models, and improve data availability for analysis.
Past projects have included setting up a reporting system in BigQuery, creating a user-level feature store for machine learning, remodeling data pipelines, integrating data warehouses with third-party applications, and revamping data orchestration to enhance delivery times.
The technology stack includes AWS, GCP, Airflow, Databricks, BigQuery, Postgres, and dbt.
Requirements:
Candidates must have demonstrated experience with Python, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, and/or AWS.
Proficiency in relational databases and SQL is required, along with experience in data warehouses and lakes such as BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake.
Applicants should have experience designing and building scalable data pipelines.
Strong communication skills are essential for conveying technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are necessary.
A willingness to learn new technologies and tackle challenging problems is expected.
Candidates should possess a pragmatic approach, balancing scrappiness and rigor.
A minimum of 5+ years of related experience is required.
Benefits:
The base pay for this position ranges from $130,000 to $210,000, depending on geographic location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
