Description:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and administering BI analytic solutions using the Microsoft platform and tool stack.
This role includes reporting, dashboarding, warehousing tasks, and other related administrative and development tasks.
The position requires strong technical and project management skills, as well as excellent customer relationship management.
Responsibilities include designing and developing enterprise and departmental BI Reporting and Analytics solutions.
The Data Engineer will partner with senior management to understand and deliver performance insights and key analytics solutions.
The role involves leading, scheduling, and troubleshooting technical implementations, from data definitions to models to end-user reporting.
The Data Engineer will build, mentor, and guide the business intelligence team to provide BI technical solutions and actionable information.
Writing complex SQL (some MDX) code and stored procedures for applications, ETL, and reports is a key responsibility.
The position requires developing and implementing standard reporting using advanced SQL to manipulate large datasets.
The Data Engineer will develop interactive analytics dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI and SSRS, with Tableau being a nice to have.
The role involves working with a variety of data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, and flat files.
Gaining subject matter expertise in the company’s data and business processes is essential.
The Data Engineer will gather and document reporting requirements from customer meetings regarding report development and ad hoc requests.
The position is results-driven, requiring the ability to take initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment.
Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience with the 2012+ Microsoft BI stack and team development tools is required.
Candidates must have 3+ years’ core expertise with complex SQL, data analysis, and reporting with SQL Server, Reporting Services, and SSAS (SSAS is nice to have).
Experience with dashboards built on Tableau and SSAS Cubes is preferred, with Tableau being a nice to have.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing and ETL concepts and techniques is necessary, with knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services being useful.
A background in a Scrum/Agile project management environment is required.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is essential.
Demonstrated advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
Data Factory experience utilizing Azure Data lakes as a source is required.
Familiarity with Azure Synapse is nice to have.
Knowledge of Python is also considered a nice to have.
