Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• The Senior Data Engineer will maximize the value of extensive data for an API platform that processes billions in payments monthly for millions of users.
• Responsibilities include crafting and executing a technical vision for AWS-based data pipelines, supporting new product developments, and ensuring optimal system performance.
• The role requires proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD systems such as Terraform, Troposphere, CloudFormation, and Jenkins.
• The position involves spending approximately 50% of the time building and enhancing data lakes and pipelines, 20% on defining and implementing DataOps methodologies, 20% on writing and optimizing queries and reports, and 10% on supporting and monitoring existing databases.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering position.
• Expert knowledge in Python is required.
• Proven experience with AWS technologies for building and managing data pipelines and performing ETL processes is essential.
• Proficiency in AWS warehousing and analysis tools like Redshift, Quicksight, and Athena is necessary.
• Candidates should be skilled in infrastructure-as-code practices, including CloudFormation, CDK, and Serverless frameworks.
• Expertise in designing and reviewing complex Python programs while ensuring compliance with style and security standards is required.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize SQL queries for maximum performance is essential.
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS is necessary.
• Candidates must have the ability to empathize with end-users to inform and guide decision-making processes.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities are required.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
• This is a contractor position for 12 months initially, 100% remote with US working hours, and being LATAM based is a must.
