Description:

  • This role focuses heavily on data troubleshooting, backend ETL processes, and ensuring the integrity of data pipelines that feed into Power BI reporting structures.
  • You will work closely with business analysts, data architects, and developers to diagnose, debug, and resolve data issues at the source.
  • The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in ETL frameworks, SQL-based debugging, and a strong understanding of Power BI data modeling and backend processes.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues across ETL pipelines and data models that support Power BI reports.
  • Maintain and optimize ETL workflows using tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, or custom-built pipelines.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis when discrepancies are found between data sources and Power BI reports.
  • Implement validation rules and cleansing processes to ensure data accuracy before it reaches the reporting layer.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient data models that enable high-performance Power BI reporting.
  • Analyze and improve slow-running queries, DAX measures, and inefficient data refresh operations.
  • Work with stakeholders, data architects, and report developers to ensure data structures meet business needs.
  • Develop technical documentation for data flow processes, troubleshooting steps, and common error scenarios.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a data engineering or data debugging role is necessary.
  • Expertise in Power BI dataflows, dataset management, and DAX optimization is essential.
  • Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting for data tasks is required.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Security best practices is necessary.
  • Experience integrating with APIs or other external data sources is required.
  • Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and debugging complex joins and aggregations, are essential.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, or similar is required.
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, or other cloud data services is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving are necessary.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and star/snowflake schema designs is required.
  • Experience working with large datasets and optimizing performance for data ingestion and refresh is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills to document findings and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams are required.
