Description:
DataKind is seeking a values-driven Data Engineer to impact student graduation rates by building and maintaining data pipelines for positive social impact.
The position is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S.
The Data Engineer will work between 8am and 6pm Eastern Standard Time.
The salary range for this position is $106,000 - $120,000.
The role involves building systems to manage data, providing guidance to schools and partners on data sharing, and collaborating with various teams within DataKind.
Responsibilities include designing, building, testing, and maintaining data pipeline architectures, providing direct data support to partners, and collaborating across different teams.
The Data Engineer will be assessed based on accomplishments related to streamlining data pipelines, operationalizing data governance requirements, and deploying data products into production systems.
Requirements:
Must align with DataKind's mission and values, including a commitment to anti-racism.
3-5 years of technical work experience with at least 3 years in data engineering.
Proficiency in Python, experience with cloud computing (Azure, GCP, AWS), and documenting RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with databases, data intelligence platforms, source code management systems, and data warehousing tools.
Ability to manage full life-cycle data engineering projects, understand software engineering principles, and provide client service orientation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across different cultures and time zones.
