Description:
Geoforce is seeking a Data Engineering Team Lead who will balance hands-on technical work with team leadership.
The role involves guiding a team in designing and implementing next-generation data infrastructure while contributing to critical projects.
The Team Lead will provide strategic direction, ensure alignment with business goals, and foster a growth-oriented environment.
The position includes five critical roles: Senior Engineer, People Manager, Product Trio Partner, Technical Lead, and Delivery Lead.
Responsibilities include acting as a player-coach, leading data architecture and design, managing ETL and data pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams, overseeing infrastructure management, managing technical debt, driving innovation and growth, establishing data governance and quality standards, and ensuring operational reliability of data systems.
Requirements:
Candidates must have hands-on experience with building and operating data pipelines, ETL frameworks, and data infrastructure in production environments.
Expertise in Airbyte, Fivetran, Snowflake, and Databricks for data warehousing, data integration, and analytics is required.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with large datasets, including building data models for Looker and PowerBI, is essential.
Candidates should have expertise in Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, and monitoring tools like Datadog is necessary.
Proficiency in Python and experience with other languages like Scala is required.
Familiarity with containers and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is expected.
A strong understanding of data modeling, including data lakes, relational databases, NoSQL, and OLAP cubes is essential.
Candidates should have 8+ years of experience as a hands-on data engineer and 3+ years of experience leading data engineering teams or initiatives.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is required.
