Description:
Excella is seeking a Data Governance Lead to join their growing data community and support clients in implementing and sustaining effective enterprise data governance.
The role requires a combination of technical knowledge of data implementations and project management skills.
Responsibilities include coordinating with the data governance board, business stakeholders, and security and privacy teams to develop a thorough understanding of business context and objectives.
The Data Governance Lead will advise organizations on data standards, policies, and processes to enhance data quality.
The position involves ensuring that policies and controls are defined, communicated, and implemented for the appropriate use of critical data assets.
The role includes building and maintaining an enterprise data catalog, data dictionary, business glossary, and data lineage while promoting data governance awareness.
The Data Governance Lead will monitor and resolve data issues, define key performance indicators, and prepare reports to guide data governance initiatives.
The position requires providing subject matter expertise on topics such as modern data architecture, data analysis, and data visualization.
Requirements:
A B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT or a related industry.
Proven experience in leading data governance or stewardship programs.
Familiarity with leading vendors and tools for data cataloging, metadata management, and stewardship capabilities.
Preferred experience with data governance products such as Collibra, AWS Glue Data Catalog, Alation, or Informatica.
Intermediate to advanced SQL skills are required.
Prior consulting or client management experience is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure complex business problems are essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for reporting and presenting findings to stakeholders.
Knowledge of change management concepts and Agile principles is a plus.
Initiative to learn new strategies and trends in data governance is expected.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
Understanding of DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) capabilities is encouraged.
