Description:
Excella is seeking a Data Governance Lead to join their growing data community and support clients in implementing and sustaining effective enterprise data governance.
The role requires a combination of technical knowledge of data implementations and project management skills.
Responsibilities include coordinating with the data governance board, business stakeholders, and security and privacy teams to develop a thorough understanding of business context and objectives.
The Data Governance Lead will advise organizations on data standards, policies, and processes to enhance data quality.
The position involves ensuring that policies and controls are defined, communicated, and implemented for the management of critical data assets.
The role includes building and maintaining an enterprise data catalog, data dictionary, business glossary, and data lineage while promoting adoption across the organization.
The Data Governance Lead will identify and maintain data quality reporting to support standards and increase user confidence in data assets.
Responsibilities also include promoting data governance awareness, liaising with cross-functional teams, monitoring and resolving data issues, and defining key performance indicators.
The position requires preparing and presenting briefing materials and reports to inform clients on project progress and recommendations.
The Data Governance Lead will provide or mobilize subject matter expertise on topics such as modern data architecture, data analysis, data visualization, and model development.
Requirements:
A B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in Computer Information Systems, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT or a related industry.
Proven experience in leading data governance or stewardship programs.
Familiarity with leading vendors and tools for data cataloging, metadata management, and stewardship capabilities.
Preferred experience with data governance products such as Collibra, Precisely, AWS Glue Data Catalog, Alation, or Informatica.
Intermediate to advanced SQL skills are required.
Prior consulting or client management experience is preferred.
Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to structure complex or undefined business problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of reporting and presenting findings to various stakeholders.
Knowledge of change management concepts and approaches is necessary.
Familiarity with core Agile values and principles is a plus.
Initiative to learn new strategies and trends for continuous self-education analytically, technically, and technologically.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
Understanding of DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) and its capabilities is encouraged.
