Description:

Gitpod is hiring a Data Lead who will report to the Head of Growth and own the data function as the company scales.
The role involves managing the entire data stack, from infrastructure to insights, and building maintainable solutions that drive business impact.
Responsibilities include owning and scaling Gitpod's data platform, driving data-informed decision making, establishing data engineering best practices, enabling enterprise sales through data systems, and partnering cross-functionally to understand data needs.
Within the first 30 days, the Data Lead will conduct an audit of the current data stack, meet with key stakeholders to understand data needs, create a system health assessment, develop a 90-day roadmap, and implement quick wins for simplification.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have experience as the primary owner of a data function in a fast-growing startup or scale-up environment.
They should have built or significantly evolved data platforms that supported business growth and have a track record of working across the data stack from engineering to analytics.
Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as dbt, Prefect, Census, and BigQuery is required.
Experience with product analytics and building customer data platforms is preferred, along with evidence of stakeholder collaboration and business impact.
Basic JavaScript experience is also necessary.
