Description:
The Data Lead role combines hands-on data science with strategic involvement in the technical and scientific direction of the data platform.
This position is crucial for underpinning the patient engagement software product and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
The role is based in Leeds or can be performed remotely within the UK.
Responsibilities include ownership and leadership of Little Journey’s data strategy and implementation of data-driven projects.
The Data Lead will identify valuable data sources, automate data collection, and build models to address business challenges.
The role involves managing a Data Engineer responsible for data pipeline management, integrations, and application management.
The Data Lead will create a Data Architecture and tech stack that aligns with the data roadmap and meets product and client needs.
The position requires bringing fresh initiatives by implementing the right data tooling and managing external providers cost-effectively.
Security and compliance management is also a key responsibility.
Immediate priorities include assessing existing data value and collaborating with the CEO and CPO on the strategic vision for data.
The 6-month objective is to deliver an initial version of the data pipeline integrated into the platform.
The 12-month objective includes leveraging generated data for actionable insights and developing integration plans with third-party systems.
Requirements:
A Master's degree or higher in data science or equivalent from a leading university is required.
Candidates must be confident in architecting highly efficient, scalable data pipelines.
Expertise in Python and associated data science libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras) is essential, along with experience in modern data pipeline frameworks such as Dagster and dbt.
Strong exposure to designing and implementing data science models that provide competitive advantages is necessary.
Proficiency in leveraging automation tools is required.
Candidates should be accustomed to communicating with non-technical staff, including product managers, clinicians, operational staff, and management.
Experience in a health tech startup is desirable.
Candidates should demonstrate collaborative behavior, creativity, inquisitiveness, and pride in their work.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is £90,000 to £110,000, depending on experience.
Employees receive 28 days of annual leave pro-rata, in addition to public holidays.
There is a £500 annual training budget available for professional development.
A £200 home working budget is provided to support remote work.
Flexible working hours are offered, with core hours from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
