Description:

Near Space Labs is seeking a proactive Data Engineer to drive the evolution of their petabyte-scale geospatial imagery pipeline.
The role involves ensuring the seamless flow of data and collaborating closely with data and software engineers.
Responsibilities include building and maintaining the proprietary data pipeline for batch geospatial data processing, monitoring and supporting data pipeline performance and reliability, and developing new data processing tasks to support evolving data requirements.
The engineer will design and implement data storage solutions using cloud-based storage services and develop and optimize data workflows using distributed systems.
Rapid generation of functional prototypes is also a key responsibility.
This is a remote position open to anyone authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements:

Proficient in Python with 5+ years of experience developing robust data pipelines and applications, and a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and geospatial data.
Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using distributed processing frameworks such as Airflow or Spark.
Demonstrated ability to interact and manage containerized data applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience working with cloud-based storage solutions like AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage, as well as data warehousing technologies.
Knowledge of how distributed systems work and the challenges they present.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex data infrastructure and pipeline issues.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing projects and deliverables effectively.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $220,000, depending on location and experience.
Employees receive 25 days of annual Paid Time Off and 10 days of annual sick leave.
