The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is hiring a Data Science Lead to head up the data science team and ensure the excellence of data science models.
The DNC’s data science offerings support Democrats in running winning campaigns by providing guidance on strategy, resource allocation, and effective voter outreach.
The role involves being a people manager and technical lead, responsible for coaching and developing the data science team and managing strategic data science initiatives.
The Data Science Lead will partner closely with the data Product Manager, Analytics Engineering Lead, and the rest of the data team to design, deploy, and drive trust in predictive models.
The position requires a passion for statistical methods and a commitment to electing Democrats, working on challenging problems in demography and politics.
Leadership responsibilities include serving as a technical lead for predictive model design and implementation, managing the data science team, and developing a vision for data science to improve Democratic candidates' effectiveness.

The Data Science Lead will report to the Director of Data and Analytics and manage the data science team.

Requirements:

Candidates should have experience leading data science teams, providing technical mentorship and strategic direction.
Experience deploying machine learning or statistical models into production environments at scale is required, along with the ability to articulate benefits and tradeoffs of different approaches.
A background in data science or statistics in a social sciences or business context, including electoral politics, is necessary.
Collaboration skills are essential, with a preference for working in diverse, distributed teams.
Proficiency in Python and/or R, including knowledge of standard libraries/modules, is required.
Fluency in SQL and experience with modern cloud data environments (GCP, BigQuery, Airflow, dbt) is necessary.
Experience with cloud computing platforms and their ML services or open-source machine learning infrastructure is required.
Excellent communication skills are essential for explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
