Description:
Marqeta is seeking a Data Scientist to join their team in Toronto, Canada, reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Science.
The role involves devising metrics, reporting, and data models to support Marqeta’s reconciliation efforts, ensuring accurate transaction data and money movement.
The Data Scientist will build data pipelines and reports to support automated internal and external stakeholders’ data needs.
Responsibilities include working with business stakeholders to solve data-related problems, building automation through Python scripting, and supporting ad-hoc analysis to identify emerging trends.
The position requires collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, Settlement Controls, and Accounting stakeholders to progress against business objectives.
This role can be performed remotely within Canada, specifically in the Vancouver or Toronto metro areas.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 2-5 years of relevant experience in data analytics or data science, particularly with large data sets.
Strong SQL skills are required, including experience writing ETLs.
Intermediate technical skills in Python, R, or other automation-focused languages are necessary.
Proficiency with dashboard and/or business intelligence tools such as Looker or Tableau is expected.
Experience with Git, Snowflake, and Airflow is considered a plus.
A foundation of integrity and strong character to represent Marqeta’s values consistently is essential.
The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, a team player, and willing to tackle ambiguous problems.
Strong communication, prioritization, and delivery skills are required, along with the ability to work in an agile environment.
