Description:

  • We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team full-time. The client is located in Santiago, Chile. The position is 100% remote.
  • Responsibilities include analyzing and modeling data to develop predictive and machine learning models aimed at optimizing mineral extraction and processing, resource management, risk analysis, and predicting variables such as mineral quality and productivity.
  • The role involves identifying improvement opportunities by analyzing data from various sources (operations, sensors, geology) to enhance efficiency, safety, and profitability in mining operations.
  • The Data Scientist will develop data-driven solutions by translating data analysis conclusions into practical solutions that improve operational processes and strategic decision-making.
  • Clear and concise communication of analysis results to management, engineering, and operations teams is essential, utilizing visualizations and simple language to facilitate understanding of insights.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams from the client is required to ensure the successful implementation of data-driven solutions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the role is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in data analysis within the mining industry, with knowledge of extraction, processing, and resource management processes.
  • Strong experience in data analysis, including data cleaning, transformation, exploratory analysis, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R for data analysis and model development is necessary.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL for database manipulation and querying is required.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is desirable, and having a certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, geological modeling software, and mining data management systems is expected.
  • Academic background in Civil Industrial Engineering, Commercial Engineering, Computer Systems Analysis, Civil Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering in Computer Science, or related fields is required.
  • Additional qualifications such as a diploma, master's, or doctorate related to data science, mining, or maintenance are valued.
