Description:
The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by leveraging data to inform strategic decisions and initiatives in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Data Scientist will work within the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, utilizing advanced analytics, statistical techniques, and machine learning algorithms.
Responsibilities include building and publishing public-facing dashboards on various public health topics to engage the community and improve health outcomes.
The position is fully remote for U.S. based candidates, with a flexible work schedule between 7 am – 6 pm Central Time.
The salary range for this position is $92,700-$134,275 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with an end date of June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field is required; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R is necessary.
Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools, preferably SQL, is required.
Familiarity with data visualization tools, with Power BI preferred, is necessary.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
Professional certifications in data science, machine learning, or public health analytics are preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to develop productive relationships with colleagues and partners.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary.
