Description:

  • The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by leveraging data to inform strategic decisions and initiatives in a public health organization.
  • This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
  • The Data Scientist will work within the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, utilizing advanced analytics, statistical techniques, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Responsibilities include building and publishing public-facing dashboards on various public health topics to engage the community and improve health outcomes.
  • The position is fully remote for U.S. based candidates, with a flexible work schedule between 7 am – 6 pm Central Time.
  • The salary range for this position is $92,700-$134,275 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
  • This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with an end date of June 30, 2025.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field is required; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R is necessary.
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools, preferably SQL, is required.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, with Power BI preferred, is necessary.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
  • Professional certifications in data science, machine learning, or public health analytics are preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to develop productive relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary.
