Description:
The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by leveraging data to inform strategic decisions and initiatives in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Data Scientist will work within The Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County, specifically with the Marion County Public Health Department.
Responsibilities include designing and developing interactive dashboards using Power BI, implementing complex models, conducting predictive analysis, and analyzing large datasets to provide strategic recommendations.
The position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S. based candidates and is grant funded with a limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
The salary range for this position is $92,700-$134,275 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field is required; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R is required.
Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools, including SQL, Pandas, and NumPy, is essential.
Knowledge of machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or Scikit-learn is required.
Experience with data visualization tools, particularly Tableau or Power BI, is necessary.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
Professional certifications in data science, machine learning, or public health analytics are preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to work well independently and within teams.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
