Description:
The Wealthfront Data Science Team utilizes rich financial and behavioral data to influence key product and marketing decisions, as well as to safeguard clients’ information and assets.
The Data Scientist will be embedded within Wealthfront’s Growth Team, which focuses on acquiring new clients and deepening relationships with existing clients.
Responsibilities include designing creative initiatives that cut across product lines, such as testing new in-app features, discovering new channels of client acquisition, launching email campaigns, and targeted incentives based on insights about clients and the economic environment.
A successful Growth Data Scientist will have a curiosity for discovering new insights about client behavior and will enjoy analyzing data to understand client actions.
Technical tools used in this role include hypothesis testing, mathematical transforms of variables, data mining, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning (ML).
Potential project areas include analyzing client signup flow, creating client groups, developing ML models for estimating incentive revenues or costs, and Named Entity Recognition using NLP.
Responsibilities also include demonstrating an owner’s mindset in project formulation, execution, communication, and timing.
The Data Scientist will analyze and explain A/B test results, suggest follow-ups for initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to guide the team’s roadmap.
Requirements:
A Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or Natural Sciences with 4+ years of prior experience in a Data Science role; exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Prior experience in Growth or Marketing is required.
Experience analyzing complex experiments and developing data insights and recommendations for stakeholders is necessary.
Strong communication, storytelling, and collaboration skills are essential, with a record of partnering across organizations to refine project requirements.
Hands-on mathematical and software engineering skills are needed to execute complex projects.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is required.
A desire and ability to mentor junior Data Scientists by exemplifying math, engineering, and technical communication skills is important.

The estimated annual salary range is $165,000 - $185,000 USD, plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
