Description:
KoBold Metals, a mineral exploration company, is seeking a Data Scientist specializing in Hyperspectral Remote Sensing to accelerate their mission of discovering metals for a low-carbon economy.
The hired candidate will build predictive models and utilize scientific computing methods to analyze remote sensing data, including multi- and hyper-spectral data, to provide actionable insights for exploration programs.
Responsibilities include developing modeling tools for remote sensing instrumentation, optimizing data collection efforts, and creating insights to expedite the discovery of critical battery metals.
The Data Scientist will collaborate with geoscientists to identify exploration targets, design field programs, and reduce uncertainty in predictions using data analysis techniques.
The role involves applying state-of-the-art analysis techniques, modeling remote sensing instruments, developing software exploration tools, and integrating open-source remote sensing data into KoBold's proprietary system.
Qualifications include a successful track record in remote sensing instrumentation, proficiency in Python's data science packages, experience with cloud computing resources, and knowledge of geospatial analyses and visualizations.
Requirements:
Successful track record working with remote sensing instrumentation, reflectance, and emissivity spectroscopy.
Extensive experience in physical measurement, data analysis systems, and scientific knowledge application.
Proficiency in Python's data science packages, collaborative software development, and cloud computing resources.
Advanced degree in physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
Post-degree work experience as a scientist or engineer.
Ability to take ownership of projects, constantly learn, collaborate with domain experts, and prioritize tasks effectively.
