Description:
As a Data Scientist II on the Underwriting team at Dave, you will focus on improving risk assessment and credit extension.
Your work will directly impact loss reduction, responsible growth, and equitable access to financial tools.
You will develop and deploy machine learning models, run experiments, and extract insights from large datasets.
Collaboration with engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams will be essential.
You will conduct analyses to evaluate underwriting strategies, identify user behavior and financial trends, and reduce loss rates.
You will contribute to the development and iteration of machine learning models for credit decisioning.
Supporting research initiatives, including proof-of-concept studies and third-party data evaluations, will enhance underwriting capabilities.
You will explore large datasets to uncover actionable insights for data-driven credit risk decisions.
Partnering with Engineering and Product teams, you will implement ML/AI solutions and support product discovery.
You will also support A/B testing and experimentation initiatives by designing, analyzing, and interpreting results.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required; an MS or PhD is a plus.
You must have 2+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer.
A track record of applying machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning to develop AI-driven solutions is necessary.
Strong experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning libraries such as Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, or TensorFlow is required.
Experience in designing and interpreting experiments, including A/B tests, is essential.
Good communication skills are needed to present research, development proposals, and experiment results to both technical and non-technical partners.
A curiosity, drive, and collaborative mindset, especially in fast-paced, cross-functional environments, are important.
