Description:
The Wealthfront Data Science Team utilizes rich financial and behavioral data to influence key product and marketing decisions, as well as to safeguard client information and assets.
The team consists of members with backgrounds in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, and Natural Sciences.
The Data Scientist will be embedded within Wealthfront’s Investing area, which aims to help clients grow, preserve, and manage their wealth through effective investing strategies.
Potential project areas include analyzing client behavior, opportunity sizing for new products, creating dashboards for metrics, building data pipelines, collaborating on blog posts, and developing predictive models for product interest.
Responsibilities include formulating project plans, employing mathematical rigor, collaborating with stakeholders, guiding project execution, interpreting statistical results, enhancing team execution, and automating repetitive tasks.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or Natural Sciences with 4+ years of experience in a Data Science role is required.
Prior experience in financial services or knowledge of finance basics is helpful but not mandatory.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary, with a record of partnering across organizations to refine project requirements.
Hands-on mathematical and software engineering skills are essential for executing complex projects.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is required.
The candidate should have a desire and ability to mentor junior Data Scientists by exemplifying math, engineering, and technical communication skills.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $164,000 - $184,000 USD, plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
