Remote Database Admin

Description:

• Fusemachines is a leading AI strategy, talent, and education services provider with a mission to democratize AI.
• The company has a presence in 4 countries and employs more than 400 full-time employees.
• The role is for a Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.
• The DBA will ensure the overall health, performance, and security of database systems.
• Responsibilities include maintaining the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH) and managing data-related tasks across the company.
• This is a remote, 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension.
• Key responsibilities include database maintenance, security and access control, database design, problem resolution, optimization and monitoring, backup and recovery, EDWH management, data handling, and innovation and research.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in managing PostgreSQL databases is required.
• Proficiency in Amazon RedShift and Google BigQuery is necessary.
• Strong skills in indexing, query tuning, and optimization are essential.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes is required.
• Expertise in database security, user account management, and access control is necessary.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and innovate is essential.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary to handle requests from various departments.
• A full-time Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field is preferred.
• At least 3 years of working experience in a related field is required.
• Experience in a similar role within a medium to large organization is preferred.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices is a plus.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively is necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
