Description:
Astor & Sanders Corporation is seeking a Database Administrator with Appian experience for a full-time remote position.
The Database Administrator (DBA) will serve as the data subject-matter expert on the Appian development team.
The DBA will focus on data migrations, database design, performance tuning, and integration between the legacy e.LORS system and the new OLIVIA Oracle database.
Responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, reliability, and security while collaborating with developers to optimize application workflows and queries.
The DBA will design, implement, and maintain Oracle databases and potentially additional RDBMS platforms to support Appian-based solutions.
The role involves leading data migration and conversion efforts from IBM Db2 or other legacy sources into OLIVIA’s Oracle environment, ensuring data quality and integrity.
The DBA will plan and execute database performance optimization, indexing, partitioning, and query tuning to meet project SLAs and scale requirements.
Coordination with Appian developers to create effective integration points (APIs, stored procedures, ETL processes) is essential, leveraging best DevOps/DevSecOps practices.
The DBA will evaluate user requests for data modeling updates, automation, or changes to database structures, maintaining documentation and ensuring minimal service disruptions.
Collaboration with security teams to establish and maintain information assurance deliverables and address audit findings or POA&M items is required.
Ongoing DBA support and troubleshooting for production issues, including on-call availability to ensure system stability, is part of the role.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience as a database administrator in an Appian environment, supporting large or enterprise-level implementations.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required, or 4 additional years of experience may substitute for the degree.
Experience in designing and maintaining Oracle databases, building ETL solutions, and migrating legacy data is necessary.
Knowledge of DevOps processes for APIs, continuous integration/deployment, and code repository usage is required.
A demonstrated history of fulfilling security and compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST is essential.
An Oracle Database Administrator Certification is required, or candidates must have 6+ years of equivalent advanced database experience.
An Appian Developer Certification is preferred.
