Remote Database Administrator (DBA)

Description:

• Design and maintain database systems following Agile methodologies to ensure high availability, performance, and quality
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support for seamless operations
• Implement security best practices to protect data integrity, security, and privacy
• Test, deploy, and maintain applications and database systems to ensure optimal functionality
• Collaborate with development and QA teams for consistent software delivery
• Identify operational enhancements and implement solutions for increased efficiency

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
• 8+ years of experience in database administration
• Proficiency in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), preferably Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of database operations best practices, including configuration, backup, recovery, security, and integrity
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based database technologies like Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, or AWS RDS
• Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, R) for automation in database management
• Experience in Agile environments and a collaborative team player
• Skills in database performance tuning and optimization
• Exceptional interpersonal skills for managing and motivating employees
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
