Description:
The Database Administrator will provide technical support for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an internal database.
This role involves maintaining policies and procedures for ensuring database security and integrity.
The Database Administrator will implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes.
Responsibilities include resolving database performance, capacity, replication, and distribution issues.
The position requires installing, updating, and maintaining SQL Server database software across multiple versions (2012–2022).
The administrator will manage database performance by developing protocols, monitoring systems, and resolving processing and programming issues.
Implementing database security policies and disaster recovery (DR) procedures to ensure data integrity and accessibility is essential.
The role supports database migrations from on-premises to cloud environments, focusing on Azure databases and SQL in cloud/Azure.
Upgrading SQL Server versions and optimizing systems for performance and reliability is a key responsibility.
The Database Administrator will create and optimize queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
Maintaining and administering SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS solutions for reporting and analytics is required.
Providing guidance and support to developers, including schema design, code review, and query tuning, is part of the job.
Collaboration with DevOps to install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances and databases in hybrid environments is necessary.
Designing, deploying, and maintaining SQL Server availability groups across data centers is expected.
The role involves developing and maintaining database standards, documentation, and failover runbooks.
Automating database maintenance tasks and processes to improve efficiency is part of the responsibilities.
The Database Administrator must be available for on-call support to address urgent database issues.
Requirements:
Proven experience with SQL Server (2012–2022), Azure databases, and SQL on VMs is required.
Hands-on experience with disaster recovery (DR) solutions for SQL Server is necessary.
Expertise in SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS, with exposure to Power BI preferred.
A demonstrated ability to migrate on-premises databases to cloud environments, including Azure, is essential.
Strong skills in updating SQL Server versions and implementing new database systems are required.
Proficiency in SQL query language, query optimization, and troubleshooting is necessary.
Strong experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management is required.
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates, is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and backup/recovery standards is necessary.
Familiarity with dimensional and relational data modeling concepts is required.
Strong programming skills, including experience with PL/SQL coding, are necessary.
Experience with Unix and PowerShell scripting for database management tasks is required.
Knowledge of emerging database technologies and the ability to recommend and implement solutions is essential.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
