Remote Database Administrator MySQL & MS SQL

Description:

• We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in MySQL and MS SQL to design, manage, and optimize databases.
• This role encompasses end-to-end database management, from schema design and performance tuning to troubleshooting and data migration, as well as collaboration with various technical teams.
• Key responsibilities include designing scalable, reliable databases aligned with performance goals, developing efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for MS SQL Server and MySQL, and implementing data modeling and schema design based on project needs.
• The Database Administrator will set up and configure MS SQL Server and MySQL environments, conduct routine database maintenance, including backups, indexing, and data integrity checks, and monitor and optimize database performance to meet business requirements.
• Ensuring robust security, access control, and compliance is also a critical responsibility.
• The role involves managing data migrations across MS SQL, MySQL, and other systems, handling data transformation and integration tasks with ETL tools, and writing scripts for data import/export processes.
• Troubleshooting database issues, providing support for database-related troubleshooting, and working closely with developers and IT teams to improve database interactions are essential tasks.
• Additionally, maintaining documentation on database structures, configurations, and processes, as well as generating business intelligence reports and queries as needed, are part of the job.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and database indexing is required.
• Strong experience in MS SQL Server (T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio) and MySQL (MySQL Workbench) is essential.
• The candidate must have the ability to use monitoring tools to diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
• Skilled in implementing backup strategies, transaction logs, and point-in-time recovery is necessary.
• Knowledge of role-based access control, data encryption, and best practices in database security is required.
• Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for task automation and ETL processes is needed.
• Understanding of cloud-based databases like Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQL is important.
• Excellent communication skills are required to convey complex database concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• The candidate must demonstrate effective teamwork with developers, data analysts, and IT personnel.
