Description:

  • LanguageWire is seeking a seasoned Database Administrator (DBA) to support engineering teams in their daily operations.
  • The role involves technology selection, data modeling, query optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues.
  • The DBA will be responsible for evangelizing and enhancing the engineering teams' understanding of data and databases through guidance and training.
  • The position requires close collaboration with the Senior Director of Technology to build a solid data governance framework and define/execution of the data strategy.
  • The DBA will ensure optimal operations of products and services by being the hands-on expert for database and data needs.
  • The role includes defining LanguageWire’s data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data, and master data.
  • Success in this role will be measured by well-modeled and documented data, a powerful core data engine for ML/AI teams, and being recognized as the go-to person for database and data needs.

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of SQL, including PostgreSQL and SQL Server, is required.
  • Solid data modeling skills, including conceptual, logical, and physical models, are necessary.
  • Good knowledge of cloud services, specifically Azure and GCP, along with DevOps engineering experience, is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to engage and commit teams around you.
  • A collaborative mindset is necessary to solve complex puzzles with engineers from various backgrounds.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory.
  • Experience with microservice-based architecture, data warehousing (BigQuery, SnowFlake, Databricks), orchestration technology (Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory), and data lakes is preferred.
