Description:

Procurify is seeking a Staff Database Engineer to join their Architecture team, focusing on scaling the company's engineering efforts.
The role involves designing and delivering data layers for critical services and acting as a thought leader in database design.
Responsibilities include planning for future scaling of MySQL and Postgres databases, coaching software engineers on data modeling and optimization, and providing tools for improving database query performance.
The engineer will assess transactional data consistency and implement internal process improvements while collaborating with backend and frontend teams.
Participation in annual hackathons and working with cloud-native architecture (RDS, EKS, Terraform) is expected.
The engineer will advise leadership on technical considerations related to data layer technologies.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 6-8+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in database engineering.
Expert-level experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL is required.
Strong experience with AWS databases, especially RDS Aurora, is necessary.
Candidates must have expert-level skills in performance tuning databases.
Experience in collaborating with stakeholders and setting clear expectations is essential.
The ideal candidate should be autonomous, self-motivated, and have a focus on security at scale.
Strong Python programming experience is required, with familiarity in Django being a bonus.
A proven track record of building and maintaining business-critical web applications at scale is necessary.
Candidates should have experience in coaching technical leadership within an engineering team.
Familiarity with agile practices such as scrum/kanban, CI/CD, test automation, and infrastructure as code is preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $200,000, depending on experience, excluding bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity.
